Get ready for an exciting day of football! Maricopa and Desert Sunrise High Schools are joining forces to host a fun-filled 7-on-7 football tournament and a series of challenging “Big Man” competitions on June 2nd.
Twenty high school teams from the area, including Basha and Casa Grande, will show off their skills at Copper Sky from 4 pm to 10 pm. It’s a bargain at just $5 general admission, and even better, kids aged 9 and under get in free!
7-on-7 football isn’t your typical football game; it’s a touch-free, high-energy version that sidelines offensive and defensive linemen. Think of it like flag football on a full-sized football field, as described by Desert Sunrise High’s head coach, Jonathan Clark. 7-on-7 Football Tournament and Big Man Competitions.
But don’t worry about the linemen missing out on the fun! They’ll be busy flexing their muscles in an array of strength and endurance competitions. Get ready to see tire flips, relay races, farmer’s carries, truck pushes, medicine ball tosses, and good old-fashioned tug-of-war.
Rams head coach, Tevin Rutherford, is thrilled about the upcoming event, saying,
“We have some pretty solid talent here. We’re excited to showcase the teams that are often overlooked.”
In between the gripping matches and contests, spectators can indulge in tasty treats from various food trucks and concession stands. It’s a day of sporting fun you won’t want to miss
