Team Blue Triumphs in 39th Bob Cleverley 8-Man All-Star Game. In a thrilling matchup at Bob Green Field, Team Blue emerged victorious with a 56-40 win over Team Red. It marked Team Blue’s first victory in the series since 2019, ending a four-year drought.
The game started with a bang as St. Ignatius’ Bryce Umphrey returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown, putting Team Blue ahead 6-0 early on. Bob Cleverley 8-Man All-Star Game.
Team Red responded in the first quarter, with Belt’s Bridger Vogl scoring a short touchdown run and adding a 2-point conversion to take an 8-6 lead. They extended their lead to 14-6 in the second quarter when Flint Creek’s Andrew Tallon scored on a 33-yard quarterback keeper following an interception.
However, Team Blue fought back. St. Ignatius’ Canyon Sargent’s goal line touchdown narrowed the gap to 14-12, and Charlo’s Tucker Love’s fumble recovery turned into a quick score off a double pass, giving Team Blue an 18-14 lead. Team Red managed to regain a slim 20-18 lead at halftime.
Early in the third quarter, Superior’s Decker Milender’s touchdown reception swung the momentum back in favor of Team Blue, making it 26-20.
In the fourth quarter, Team Red closed the gap with a long touchdown catch and run by Joliet’s Paxton McQuillan, bringing them within one possession. However, Team Blue held firm, extending their lead and sealing the game with Umphrey’s interception just before the two-minute warning.
