The Colonels are gearing up for their first game of the season! On Friday, August 25th, they’ll be hitting the field for the Allen Builders Bowl at Warren East High School. They’ll be facing off against Franklin-Simpson at 6pm sharp. The Wildcats had a strong season last year, with a 7-4 record, but unfortunately, they lost to Hopkinsville in the playoffs.
Good news for The Colonels, they’ve got a bye week on August 25th.
Get ready for a thrilling match-up! On Friday, September 1st, Christian County will be back in action, taking on their cross-town rival, Hopkinsville, at the Stadium of Champions. The big game will start at 7pm.
Earlier this year, it was announced that this 2023 game would be the last football game between these two schools. Hopkinsville and Christian County High are planning to merge and create the Hopkinsville-Christian County Academy. However, the construction of the new school has not begun yet.
Hopkinsville has been on a winning streak against Christian County, taking the victory in the last four meetings. In 2022, they dominated the game with a 22-0 shutout win. It’s sure to be a competitive match, so don’t miss it!
Christian County is taking on some tough competition! After their game against Hopkinsville, they’ll be facing off against two out-of-state schools.
First up, they’ll be playing at South Gibson, Tennessee on Friday, September 15th. The Hornets are part of Tennessee’s Class 4A and had a 7-5 record last year. Then, on September 15th, Christian County will host Marion, Ill. at the Stadium of Champions. The Marion team was 10-3 in 2021 and followed that with a 6-4 record last year.
The Colonels will then hit the road for two more non-district games. On September 22nd, they’ll be playing at Caldwell County. Last year, Christian County won the game on the field 18-9, but the outcome was later declared a forfeit win for Caldwell County after an ineligible player was used.

The Colonels have a big game coming up! On September 29th, they’ll be playing against their former Class 5A district rival, Bowling Green. The Purples dominated last year’s game with a 50-7 win and went on to play in the Class 5A championship game.
After this game, Christian County will be focusing on their district games for the next three weeks. With solid performances, they’re guaranteed a spot in the postseason.
On October 6th, The Colonels will be hosting Daviess County. The last time these two teams faced off was in 2004, with Christian County coming out on top with a 37-20 win. Daviess County had a strong season last year with a 7-5 record.
On October 13th, Christian County will hit the road to play against McCracken County. McCracken had a rough season last year, with a 2-9 record, and lost to The Colonels 27-20. However, McCracken leads the all-time series against Christian County with a 4-1 record.

Christian County has a big showdown on the horizon! On October 20th, they’ll be facing Henderson County in their final district game. Henderson County had a strong season last year with a 10-3 record and handed Christian County a 43-14 loss. They’ve also won the last three games in the series, with Christian County’s last win dating back to 2017.
To wrap up the regular season, The Colonels will be playing against Mayfield, a perennial Class 2A power, at the Stadium of Champions on October 27th. The last time these two teams faced off was in 1990, with Mayfield coming out on top with a 27-7 win.
Unfortunately, Christian County high school only has four home games on their 2023 schedule. Zach Self is serving as the interim head coach for the football program after Blake Ladson did not complete the 2022 season as head coach. The reason for Ladson’s absence has not been given by school officials.
